Bob,

This pic was stolen off my MSN site... not that I mind, but would have preferred to give permission for its use.

Does anyone else remember that fabled night at Council Horseshoe when I walked my prized catch all the way up the lake on a stringer and displayed it for the council? My brother, Jeff, who was a 14'er that year (1976 or was it 1977?) is in the photo with me. I caught it on my night off (I was a counselor that year) at A-Lake and kept it alive in my car the whole way back up that very, very bumpy road. We tried to keep it alive and revive it so we could release it into Little Horseshoe Lake, but, alas, she died. So, Merc had her stuffed and mounted above the Mess Hall door. He said she was 6 lbs.

I do remember you walking through the water to the Council Horseshoe. My recollection of the story was that you had somehow seen the fish before you caught it. And you were specifically, and very patiently, fishing for this particular lunker. For some reason, I had placed it as being caught off one of the piers though, not A-Lake.

Also, my recollection is that you used a rubber worm to catch it. True?

Sorry, Lee,
this ol' sow was caught on a white and black Hellbender. I was wading in A-Lake up to my waist to try and hit a drop off.
